Pennant Season Wrap Up

Pennant Season Wrap Up

The Heritage has had another successful pennant season in 2023.  From a small membership base, we continue to be competitive with much larger clubs and this is a credit to everyone involved. Pennant continues to be an important connection within our Club, as members are always curious to know results and show a keen interest in how players are going.  This camaraderie is so important to the continued growth of our Club and the support of the members is felt by all players and caddies. Thank you to all caddies, volunteers and supporters who helped all teams to have such a great season.

Men’s Pennant – Division 5

Congratulations to the Men’s Pennant Team who won Division 5 in a nail biting final against Box Hill at Mandalay Golf Club. After being down after 9 holes, in 5 matches out of 7, the team fought hard to win 4/3.   The important final match was won by our PGA Professional Michael Dean who sunk the winning putt on the 18th hole.  Congratulations to all players who represented us throughout the season: Sam Lang (Captain), Michael Dean, Marc Massarotti, Jack Bade, Wayne Joseph, Jason Kiekebosch, Ted Sargeant, Anthony West, Josh Usher and Michael McGrath. Thank you to our Team Manager, Tim Dixon, who has done an outstanding job of building this team over the last couple of years.

Sunday Women’s Pennant – Division 1

The 2023 Women’s Pennant Season was full of incredible performances, but not without some challenges, particularly with fielding our teams amidst conflicting GA tournaments, illness and injury. Our Sunday team remains in Division 1 after narrowly missing out on the finals by only 2 games. Our Congratulations to all players who represented us throughout the season: Keeley Marx (undefeated), Jazy Roberts, Olivia Lewis (Team Captain), Montana Lewis, Jessie Yun, Jing Mei Chen, and Naiomi Bentley.  We also thank Tessa Fraser, Cassie Barr, Wendy Smith & Sharon Kennington for also filling in when needed. Thanks also to our Team Manager Lee Watson and Captain Viv Wilkes for organising the team every week.

Friday Women’s Pennant – Division 2

Our Friday team had a very competitive season, with some very close games.  The challenges faced by limited player availability in our Sunday team was also felt by this team.  It was a credit to all members who volunteered to play and ensure that we had a full team every week. Heritage ended up at 7th on the ladder with a threat of possible relegation to Division 3. Congratulations to all players who represented the team throughout the season: Tessa Fraser (Team Captain), Stella Shen, Jennifer Wu, Cassie Walker, Wendy Smith, Marie Ghirardello, Helen Ericson, Nancy Hu, Annette Den Elzen, Lee Watson, Sue Vogt, Debbie Barr and Asuko Okumura.
